State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation : 2022

So we come to the final part of the State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation survey for 2022 (if you missed the first two parts you will find the first part, looking at products here, and the second part combining that with a look at regional data for deployments is here). This part of the survey was dedicated to trying to understand what you, the community, want from a site like this one.

So here are the key take-aways from this section. Naturally we want to hear from you if you have any further input – at the end of the day this site exists for a community, so the community gets to say what it wants (within reason).

The first question was a simple one – what kind of content would you like to see on the site? And the responses were as follows, with some interesting data points discussed below the chart.

State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation : 2022 - Content

So, the desire for training and educational content is as strong as ever. In order therefore we have technical training (relating to JavaScript which of course is Interview Extension territory) but the overall demand for functional training far outweighs that need. To be honest, this is a swing that we have already anticipated – regular readers will have noted that in the last 3 months, we have been product-heavy (relationships, entities etc.) and lighter on JavaScript. We are not going to abandon Extensions by any means, but we have to balance the need to avoid customization wherever possible. This reflects the State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation in 2022 – concentrating on Total Cost of Ownership and avoiding unnecessary customization.

The other State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation key data points are the example projects – and we are planning to bridge that gap once our current series about relationships is finished – and the “Other”. The “Other” turned out to be one of the most interesting answers. Three different answers, expressed differently but meaning the same thing : “How to sell OIA?”. Actually two of the response said that, and another was “How to sell OIA internally”. This was a bit of surprise, but then again…

A Recurring Issue

For a long time, a very long time, the concept of “positioning” Oracle Intelligent Advisor has been on the radar – I have lost count of the number of conversations I’ve had on the subject. Almost every time the response that comes back is “well, it comes down to the integrator or the sales person – they’ve got to do the work to position it”. Which is obvious, and not really an answer at all. So here are Intelligent Advisor IT Consulting we are going to be tackling this issue in 2022. It will require input from the community and that is where you come in – whether it be here or on LinkedIn – we are looking forward to hearing from you. We have already made a start with our Infographic about 7 Accelerators for Oracle Intelligent Advisor (if you would like a PNG version it’s at the end of the article here) but we intend to go further this time – perhaps even to create an Interview to help you sell!

State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation : 2022 - Books

A second question, a little more focused on publications (books and ebooks) but what is interesting that the requests come back to the core of the product for the majority – rule writing, administration and interview design represent a very significant chunk of this chart. Much of that content is already available in our Consultants Guide to Oracle Intelligent Advisor book and ebook, but the other content is surprising to some degree as we would consider Chat Channels and Mobile Devices to be heavily technical. And of course the “Other” was….”How to sell OIA”.

So now we have a clear picture of what you want us to deliver in 2022. We’ll do our best and hopefully help shape the State of the Intelligent Advisor Nation 2023!

In the meantime, Happy New Year.
