So here we are, already at the next article in this Example Project series. This week we will look at the Energy Saver project.
This is the 7th Example Project in the set provided with Oracle Policy Modeling. The Energy Saver Example Project is an excellent source of ideas and inspiration for your own learning or demonstrations. There is a video code-along demonstration at the end of this article.
So let’s get into the Energy Saver Example Project:
Time needed: 20 minutes.
How to use the Energy Saver Project in Oracle Intelligent Advisor
- How to use the Energy Saver Project
The concept behind the Energy Saver Example Project is a simple tool to help households understand where they can save money and make their home more energy efficient. You’ve probably seen similar interviews / documents in your own country / provided by your own energy provider.
- What does the Energy Saver Project demonstrate
This project demonstrates how to maximize your energy efficiency in the home. It introduces efficient interview flows thanks to Screen Visibility and other forms of dynamic content such as Label Visibility, Image Visibility and more. In addition, the images show how to respect norms of accessibility. There are some changes to the standard Styles as well which can be leveraged to personalize the entire interview process. The interview uses Value Lists for some attributes. The rules are simple but demonstrate multi-level structures in Word.
- Adaptation Ideas for Energy Saver
To cut your teeth with this project we suggest adding questions, or using a different energy efficiency survey – since things evolve over time, something like this might be a good place to start. In addition, with new questions you can examine and demonstrate screen and question visibility. It’s a nice simple interview that can help you gain in confidence. If you really wanted to move to the next level, you could leverage what you did in the previous example project and build a scoring system in Oracle Intelligent Advisor.
- Upsides and Downsides
There are only really upsides – now that you have done several example project walk-throughs you can begin to imagine scoring, interview changes, adding an entity… there are lots of possibilities. In the code-along video we will look at some of these to help you get started.
If you want to watch a code-along video with me to see how to make the changes listed, here it is. You can also subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
