Another week and another example project. Now is a great time to learn Oracle Intelligent Advisor and with all the training options as well as these Example Projects, you certainly have everything you need to get ahead with Oracle Intelligent Advisor. The Path Finder Example project is a great example. To find out what it can help you learn, read on!

There is a video code-along demonstration at the end of this article where we will look at the features mentioned below. So let’s get into the Path Finder Example Project:

Time needed: 20 minutes

How to use the Path Finder Project in Oracle Intelligent Advisor

  1. How to use the Path Finder Project

The concept behind the Path Finder Example Project is of a student looking to find out campus details for their chosen area of study. The project is made up of just a few screens, but as you can see from the image below, there is a high degree of styling being demonstrated. In fact, it goes beyond styling and actually uses an Interview Extension.

  2. What does the Path Finder Project demonstrate

The project showcases three major Oracle Intelligent Advisor functionalities – interview extensions, label and screen visibility and values lists. They are used for different reasons of course. The Extension provides this Example Project with a new, funky navigation flow. Instead of the standard theme-based navigation bar, we see custom images and clickable links to move around in the project Screens. The label visibility and screen visibility are used like in other Example Projects to provide the user with an optimized experience, hiding information or resources that are not relevant. Finally, the Value Lists are used to create a hierarchy of two levels to select your area of study. These items are all discussed and demonstrated in the video below.

  3. Adaptation Ideas for Path Finder

This Example Project uses some very core functionality of Oracle Intelligent Advisor – notably the Value List Hierarchy and the visibility rules – so these areas are good for new starters to work on, perhaps adding values to the Value List in order to work out how to hide / show valid information. The Extension is a good opportunity to see how a JavaScript file interacts with Oracle Intelligent Advisor.Path Finder Example Project Extension

  4. Upsides and Downsides

A simple project with different learning opportunities depending on your experience and background. Excellent!
